Actrice Robin Wright heeft haar identiteit op naam van een studio laten zetten en het contract verbiedt haar om in eigen persoon of als actrice op tv te verschijnen. Ze vindt het vreselijk om haar werk als actrice te moeten neerleggen, maar haar vrienden en familie zien het als de enige manier om een langdurige carrière te kunnen forceren. Ondertussen belooft de studio om haar altijd 32 jaar oud te laten lijken, terwijl ze in werkelijkheid al 44 is. Twintig jaar later fuseert de studio met een almachtig Japans farmaceutisch bedrijf, en dan komt het contract van Wright aan de beurt voor een hernieuwing...
